WEIGHTLESS OF DREAM

In the series "Weightless of Dream" I present a collection of paintings in which the human being is portrayed in the foreground with a diving helmet on his head. This visual choice is not accidental; the scuba helmet symbolizes the concept of shelter and protection of the inner being. Each work in the series invites the viewer to reflect on the duality between individual vulnerability and the need to defend oneself against the complexities of society.
The helmet, historically associated with the exploration of the unknown, becomes a metaphor in these paintings for the shield we use to protect our deepest essence. Beneath this helmet lies the individual with their thoughts, emotions, and inner complexities, trying to maintain their integrity in a world that often demands conformity and superficiality.
Each work in the series explores different facets of this protection. Some portraits depict serene and contemplative individuals, suggesting an inner peace despite external barriers. Others present expressions of anguish or defiance, reflecting the constant struggle to maintain authenticity in a social environment that can be hostile or indifferent. The use of color, texture, and detail in the diving helmets varies from painting to painting, symbolizing the different ways people construct and adapt their personal defenses. Each work in this series has no specific title, but is simply numbered, allowing each viewer to create their own concept according to their personal experience. This decision is intended to foster a more intimate and personal connection with each painting, allowing the meaning of the work to emerge from the unique interaction between the piece and the viewer.

"Weightless of Sleep is an artistic exploration of the human condition, a visual journey that examines how we navigate our own inner complexities while dealing with external expectations and pressures. Through this series, I invite the viewer to consider their own diving helmet: what do we protect and what do we protect ourselves from? How does this protection affect our interaction with the world and our perception of ourselves?
The idea of "weightlessness" in the title symbolizes how our dreams and aspirations float free, unrooted, defying the forces that try to keep them firmly on the ground. This concept of weightless dreams reflects the fluid and often ungraspable nature of our deepest hopes, which, like outer space, have no anchor to hold them down and allow them to sail freely in the vast ocean of our psyche.
